The Oakland Raiders were a professional American football team that played in Oakland, California, from its founding in 1960 to 1981 and again from 1995 to 2019 before relocating to the Las Vegas metropolitan area where they now play as the Las Vegas Raiders. Between 1982 and 1994, the team played in Los Angeles as the Los Angeles Raiders.
The team wore this design from 1960 to 1962. In a very rare move, the jerseys displayed the player's full name on the back, before being pared down to only the surname in 1963. When Al Davis became head coach and general manager in 1963, he changed the team's color scheme to silver and black, and added a logo to the helmet.
The 1963 Oakland Raiders season was the team's fourth in Oakland.The campaign saw the team attempt to improve upon its abysmal 1962 record of 1–13. In his first year with the organization, Raiders legend Al Davis, formerly a receivers coach with the San Diego Chargers, replaced the team's original gold and black uniforms with the current "silver and black" scheme.

This was the final season that all AFL on-field officials wore vertically striped red and white uniforms. The next year all officials would wear uniforms mirroring those of their NFL counterparts.
