Fremont Street dates back to 1905, when Las Vegas itself was founded. Fremont Street was the first paved street in Las Vegas in 1925 [4] and received the city's first traffic light in 1931. [5] Fremont Street also carried the shields of U.S. Route 93 (US 93), US 95, and US 466 before the construction of the interstate freeways, including I-15.
The Fremont Hotel is located on 200 Fremont Street. It was designed by architect Wayne McAllister and opened on May 18, 1956, as the tallest building in the state of Nevada . At the time of its opening it had 155 rooms, cost $6 million to open and was owned by Ed Levinson and Lou Lurie. [ 1 ]
La Bayou was a casino located on the Fremont Street Experience in Downtown Las Vegas, Nevada. The casino had 3,200 square feet (300 m 2 ) of gaming space with 125 slot machines .
