Cecily can mispronounce whatever the fuck she wants. I personally like the way Cecily Strong exists. Came to say this. SNL has featured many a strong-accented Midwesterner over the years: Gilda, John Belushi, Brian Doyle-Murray, Joan Cusack, Al Franken, Chris Farley, Tim Robinson and Cecily to name a few.
She has incredible range. She can do decent impressions, accents, characters, she can sing, she's smart, she seldom breaks. She's basically a perfect cast member. Tina was a better, more prolific writer but Cecily is the best I've ever seen in front of the camera. Cecily is a better cm than Tina was.
Cecily's impression of the narrator is spot-on - she nails pretty much everything about the women's voice, from her tone to her cadence and pacing. It's one of her very best impressions, IMO. Serial was a very very popular radio podcast hosted by a former This American Life contributor.
