After the release of the S-Series Blazer/Jimmy in 1983, the models were officially renamed "Chevrolet Full-Size Blazer" and "GMC K-Jimmy" (V-Jimmy from 1987-1991), though they are often unofficially still addressed as "K5" to avoid confusion. The K5 Blazer and Jimmy had "full convertible" removable tops until 1975.

The Chevrolet S-10 is a compact pickup truck produced by Chevrolet.It was the first domestically-built compact pickup of the big three American automakers. After trailing the rest of the C/K series for nearly five years, one-ton crew cab trucks, the Suburban SUVs, and the K5 Blazer/V-Jimmy all adopted the GMT400 architecture. To end nameplate confusion with its compact SUVs, GMC renamed the Jimmy as the GMC Yukon for 1992, with the Chevrolet K5 Blazer becoming the Chevrolet Tahoe for 1995.
