River Oaks District is an openair luxury shopping complex in Houston, Texas, which opened October 1, 2015. [1] It consists of 252,000 square feet of retail space with an iPic movie theater. Anchor stores include Hermes, Dior, Cartier, Harry Winston, Van Cleef, Saint Bernard, and Zimmermann.
During 1987-8 the mall was remodeled by Dallas-based Kenneth H. Hughes Interests, [2] including a new 2-story indoor wing on the site of the front parking lot, and a new name: Pavilion Saks Fifth Avenue (also referred to as Saks Fifth Avenue Pavilion). The new wing opened in late 1988 [3] accompanied by a lavish gala.
In 1979, the theater was renovated, with the balcony being converted into an additional screen. It was purchased by AMC Theatres in 1987, and the entire Art Deco interior was demolished, converting it into 11,000 square feet (1,000 m 2) of retail space, and two brand-new theater screens upstairs. It was once again renovated in 2010.
