    I suspect that the Bing cherry was a selection from seedlings, but I haven't researched this so I don't want to change the text of the article. 'Crossbred' means to hybridize two different species of perhaps cultivars, which either intentionally, or just be taking seeds from some cherries, was probably what was done here.
