Blenheim / ˈ b l ɪ n əm / is a town in Marlboro County, South Carolina, United States. The population was 154 at the 2010 census. It is named for Blenheim Palace in Oxfordshire, England. [5] Blenheim Palace was the residence of the Duke of Marlborough, after whom Marlboro County is named.
[2] [3] The district includes the mill, number of accompanying buildings, and over eighty mill village homes. The district is noteworthy in that it is considered to be oldest mill village in the state. No less significant, the mill building, completed in 1877, was based on the plans of engineers A. D. Lockwood & Company of Providence, Rhode Island.
Blenheim Vineyards has 30 acres (12 ha) under vine. The first planting was in 2000 and the second planting was in 2007. The grapes growing on the Blenheim property include Viognier, Chardonnay, Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Petit Verdot. Some grapes used in Blenheim wines are also sourced from other Virginia growers.
