But, the local retail stores don't carry (Siemens) panels smaller than 100amp. I checked with the local inspector (Seattle) and he said that it's common practice to feed a larger sub-panel (e.g., 100amp) from a smaller main feeder breaker/wire (e.g. 50amp, #6 wire). The problem is that the 100amp main breaker in the sub-panel I bought lists a ...

Just went out this morning and bought 6/3 wg romex. Now about the limited amount of slots in my main panel. I am planning to replace the two inch 30amp 2 pole dryer breaker with a 1" and use a 1" 50 amp 2 pole brkr in the empty slot to feed the 6/3 conductors.

  4. How many #6 wires in 3/4 inch rigid conduit? - Love Plumbing &...

For 40 amps you can go with 8 gauge wire. Since the draw will be 30 amp a buffer is already built in. Ground wire can be 10 gauge. How hard the pull is will depend on the number of bends. Two or less should be fairly easy. Also - you could go with UF cable. The charger is a 240v load so no neutral needed.

  7. 50 Amp Range replaced with oven / cooktop combo

    terrylove.com/forums/index.php?threads/50-amp-range-replaced-with-oven-cooktop...

For a kitchen remodel I am replacing a range which is wired with a 50 Amp circuit an 6 AWG AL wire with a cooktop calling for a 30 Amp circuit and 20 Amp oven which will be installed below the cooktop. I saw that the code allows these two to be wired on the same circuit, but has a description on how to wire it that I do not exactly understand.

Jun 13, 2008. #3. You are better off running THHN in the conduit. You will have enourmous difficulty pulling #8 Romex through conduit. You can put four #8 THHN through a 3/4" conduit and it will be rated at 50 Amps. The #8 Romex is rated at only 40 Amps.

  9. 4 Wire Cooktop and Oven to 3 Wire Sub Panel - Love Plumbing &...

    terrylove.com/forums/index.php?threads/4-wire-cooktop-and-oven-to-3-wire-sub...

I am installing a new electric cooktop and oven and need to purchase wire. These are 4 wire appliances. Do I get 2+G wire or 3+G wire? The old range had 2+G wire with bare ground. Seems to me the bare ground would not be cool. The manufacturer lists both 3 and 4 wire connections. Btw, the cooktop calls for a 50 amp circuit. 8 or 6 awg?

Wisconsin. Apr 25, 2010. #1. If I'm reading the NEC table correctly, 3/4" PVC conduit can have up to (3) 6 AWG conductors. Does this mean that no other conductors can be present, or can I also have a 10 AWG grounding conductor in the conduit?

  11. Connecting 10g AWG to GFI receptacle? - Love Plumbing & Remodel

    terrylove.com/forums/index.php?threads/connecting-10g-awg-to-gfi-receptacle.100056

There are some good reasons to use a larger gauge wire than what may be called for as the minimum, and the OP wanted to minimize voltage drop. He was also shown a GFCI receptacle that specified it would work with 10-14g wire...yes, heavier gauge wire is more of a pain to bend back into the box, but that might be a reason to decide to use a ...
