Location. Pittsburgh,PA U.S.A. Jul 6, 2022. #10. The VCM of the 2.4 L in my 2016 Honda CR-V is one of the main reasons I use PUP (though in 0W-20), not 5W-30 but PUP of any viscosity is an oil that has very high cleaning, very good lubricating at all the temperatures it sees, and one of the lowest NOAC numbers.
10,610. Location. Las Vegas NV. Dec 19, 2006. #4. I would go with the SuperTech Full Syn oil. The UOA's on this board for this oil have been very good. I'm running it for the first time right now in my Ranger. It's only ~$14 in the 5 quart jug.
723. Location. NYC. May 31, 2023. #1. I finally got in all the results for samples of SuperTech Advanced, Full Synthetic and High Mileage. Engine is the high output 440 horsepower 3.5L V6 Ecoboost. I have also included results of Pennzoil Ultra Platinum 5W30 and Quaker State Euro 5W40 just to compare against SuperTech.
There are only a few companies out there that make additive packages for blending oil. They are all utilized by major oil brands. Super Tech has no choice but to buy the add pack from them. Therefore, it has no choice but to be of the same quality as any other oil brand, major or not. The second item to consider is the base oil.
Location. USA. May 28, 2013. #5. In comparing Mobil 1 in 5-quart jugs: The version sold to Walmart (for $22.47) has 5.0 quarts, and the jug sold at automotive retailers for $34.95+/- has 5.1 quarts. Same product in both cases.
No ST 20K mile oil in Canadian WMs so far, but picked just up 2 jugs of 5w-30 ST FS at C$14.47 each, that's a very good price. For those in USA, jug is 1.32Gal (5L) for US$11.50. As far as Costco, they may widen oil selection online but stores likely won't see many choices as they stock only a few on shelves. S.
Gone to the Dark Side with Supertech. Just did an oil change on my Camaro, and had to take stock of where it is in its life-cycle. I have owned the car since new, and it always had synthetic oil in the sump. But after 240,000 miles, oil consumption has trended up, and now it is using a quart in about 1200 miles.
My guess is it must be pretty new since I've never seen it come up in MC oil threads. The full synthetic looked to be $8.xx per quart of I recall. I can't remember if I saw a conventional version... I'm trying to pick my next oil for the 14 VStrom 1000. I've used Delvac 1300 for around 7000 miles and I liked it.
However once you have a marketable oil in place, the incremental costs of production drop like a stone and the race to 'fill your plants' begins, which is why a mega-retailer like Walmart is such a juicy, irresistible target and can command low wholesale pricing. Last edited: Mar 21, 2018. 1.
All motor oil must meet goverment specs. If you read label it says meets or exceeds all goverment standards plus. People at wallmart says it made by mobil 1. Really doesent matter so much as meeting Gov requirements and is Certified. My neighbor bought a new $60,000 Truck Van for his company all he uses is Walmart SuperTech Full Synthetic.
