James Logan High School was named after pioneer James Logan, who came to Alvarado (former settlement, now part of Union City [4]) from Derry, Ireland in 1885. After World War II, the growth of Union City was so tremendous, a new high school was built to serve that district.

The attendance areas take their names from the five high schools. American High School serves the northern part of Fremont. Irvington High School serves the southern portion of Fremont, away from the Mission San Jose. John F. Kennedy High School serves the area between Irvington and Washington.
Brookvale Elementary School is an elementary school in Fremont, California. It is located at 3400 Nicolet Ave 94536.[1] It is one of 28 elementary schools in the city belonging to the Fremont Unified School District. Brookvale is part of the American Attendance area and goes to American High School and Thornton middle School.[2]
Logan was elected to the board of trustees for Washington Union High School in 1931. He used his farming equipment to condition the sports field at the new school. On October 16, 1931, he and fellow Trustee, James Cleveland Whipple, were killed in an auto accident in Hayward. [3] Both were interred at Chapel of the Chimes cemetery in Hayward.
Four schools, American High School, Irvington High School, Mission San Jose High School and Washington High School are eligible for NCS 3-A tournaments, and one school, John F. Kennedy High School is eligible at the NCS 2-A level. However, the NCS 4-A, 3-A and 2-A, etc. structure is primarily used for football competition.

Kennedy High School is also part of the North Coast Section (NCS). Their mascot is the Titan, and their colors are purple and gold. Their Varsity Football Team has won 4 MVAL League championships; 1972, 1988 (in a three-way shared title with Washington High and James Logan High), 2014 and 2016.
