The work boots don't protect as well against abraision in a slide, but even worse they give little protection for twisting forces. The other is in the ability to stay on.

Selling a very nice pair of Red Wing motorcycle boots. Brand new (oem) soles and heels. Leather is in excellent condition. These are marked 11.0 USA 44 EU, but they fit more like 10.5-10.75. I usually wear an 11 in RW boots, and found them slightly too small for optimal comfort.

Hopefully this isn't a unicorn. I have wide feet. I usually wear 13. My left foot is E and my right foot is EE, which complicates things a bit. Wide footbed. MX or MX like protection. Enduro sole. I've tried on the following boots so far: Alpinestars Tech 7 Enduro Drystar - These are the best fitting so far.

chrome bandit Wide footed adventurer. I'm a 4E 10.5, went to Red Wing's 427... A bit heavy, good insulation, Goretex, $220. Would like to look at Sidi's and others, need to try them on in person, I don't bother wasting time on mail order with shoes anymore unless I can do an in person fit.
I wear Justin steel toed boots with a steel shank. They are high tops with a smooth sole. I also wear apair of Red Wing high top boots with composite toe and shank. The Red Wings have a soft sole and are harder to slide my foot off the the foot peg to shift. The composite boots are lighter. They also have a mesh type liner.
Hand apply Red Wing or any other good heavy/paste waterproofing. The paste melts in to the seams and all surfaces. Put back in to oven for a few minutes (it will smell a bit--hence the home alone suggestion) Remove boot , let stand until cool, wipe boot with cloth. Air out oven and kitchen to remove evidence.
