The Custom Classic Telecaster was the Custom Shop version of the American Series Tele, featuring a pair of Classic and Twisted single-coils in the bridge and neck positions, as well as a reverse control plate. Earlier versions made before 2003 featured an American Tele single-coil paired with two Texas Special Strat pickups and 5-way switching.
Seymour Duncan. Seymour Duncan is an American company best known for manufacturing guitar and bass pickups. They also manufacture effects pedals which are designed and assembled in United States. Guitarist and luthier Seymour W. Duncan and Cathy Carter Duncan founded the company in 1976, in Santa Barbara, California.
Duncan was also introduced to Jeff Beck during his time at the Fender Soundhouse. Duncan gifted Beck with a "Tele-Gib", a Telecaster with a humbucking pickup reminiscent of a Gibson pickup. The Tele-Gib was a prototype of Duncan's JB model. [5] After his visa expired, Duncan came back to the United States and eventually settled in California. [7]
Although the pickup in the Avril Lavigne Telecaster is a humbucker rather than the usual single coil, the guitar features a three-way selector switch to allow the player to isolate one coil of the pickup at a time, providing single-coil tones like the Esquire or a normal Telecaster, or both coils at the same time for a humbucker sound.
