Always test the adhesives on a sample before using and if you are gluing foam into the Trek case you recently showed you will want to leave the case open after gluing the foam in to allow the adhesive to outgas and cure for several days as the fumes could have some negative effect on the case materials.
This made the foam itself more rigid and it was the foam that ultimately cracked when normally it is very flexible. The 2:1 PVA was the thinnest of all materials used, and that caused the biggest cracks. If you want flexible pieces you need to maintain flexibility in both the foam AND the sealant.

Heat n' Bond is what I use with craft foam. Maybe the process can be modified for your foam? - Iron it on to the fabric first in a large sheet. - Draw your template shapes on to the paper and cut it out. - Lay the paper/glue/fabric on to the foam. - Trace and cut a bit bigger because the foam will shrink slightly.
1- Finish building the piece. 2- Float the heat gun over all of the surfaces to tighten and set the surface. Don't go crazy or hot-glued seams will separate. 3- I look over the pieces for pinholes or openings in seams, and fill these with paintable silicone caulking.

The answer you're looking for is Hot Glue. Don't use too much though (but not too little)... you don't want the hot glue to squirt out of the joint between the foam pieces... because this will make the joint more visible and harder to hide (regardless if you're using a thick sealer like plasti-dip). Active Member. May 28, 2012. #2. just look at eva foam projects and you'll find it. I use hot glue because it binds the pieces together into one. if its hot enough it sort of melts it together. just be sure you have the piece where you want it.
Supaglue will also make the material go hard after it soaks it up. Normal glue from a glue-gun is fairly flexible, but the adhesion quality is not super strong. Some faux leather has a white cotton layer behind it, best to peel this off before gluing.
Oct 4, 2015. #12. Honestly, the best thing to use with foam is contact cement. Hot glue is good for repairs, but if you are travelling, exposed to heat and the like, you will a lose a lot of adhesion.
