The West Chester Area School District (WCASD) serves the borough of West Chester, Pennsylvania, United States and its surrounding townships. The townships served are East Bradford , East Goshen , Thornbury , West Goshen , West Whiteland , and Westtown , in Chester County , as well as Thornbury Township in adjacent Delaware County . [ 2 ]
In 1966, the surrounding areas officially became the K-12 West Chester Area School District. Rising enrollment once again outpaced building capacity and West Chester East High School was built. The building was renovated in the 1970s, adding a new library and second cafeteria.
The Chester Upland School for the Arts (CUSA) was opened in 2008 and became the highest performing school in the district. [5] In the fall of 2011, the staff at CUSA was significantly reduced due to state education funding cuts. [8] West Chester East (as well as Fugett) draws its student body from East Goshen Elementary, Exton Elementary, Glen Acres Elementary, Fern Hill Elementary, and half a part of Greystone Elementary. In 2018, Blair led West Chester to its first NCAA Tournament win in program history. The 2017–18 team finished 22–7 and were led by Malik Jackson's 19.2 points per game. [ 8 ] The following season, the team again reached the NCAA Tournament and finished 22–9, capped by a 15-game win streak. [ 4 ]
