Ennis (/ ˈ ɛ n ɪ s /) is a city in eastern Ellis County, Texas, United States. The population is 20,159 according to the 2020 census, with an estimated population of 23,686 in 2023. Ennis is home to the annual National Polka Festival.
Palmer is located in northeastern Ellis County. Interstate 45 passes through the east side of the town, with access from Exits 258 through 260; I-45 leads north 27 miles (43 km) to downtown Dallas and south 8 miles (13 km) to Ennis. Waxahachie, the county seat, is 11 miles (18 km) to the west.
Bardwell is located at the junction of State Highway 34 and Farm to Market Road 984 in southern Ellis County, 15 miles (24 km) southeast of Waxahachie. [4] Highway 34 leads northeast 7 miles (11 km) to Ennis and southwest 13 miles (21 km) to Italy. Lake Bardwell is 2 miles (3 km) to the east.
Forreston is an unincorporated community in Ellis County, Texas, United States. It lies on U.S. Route 77 , 8 miles (13 km) south of the county seat of Waxahachie . Its population was estimated to be 238 in 2008, but it is not listed in the 2010 census .
