The Del Monte Apartments is a historic building in Downtown Columbus, Ohio. It was built in 1902 and was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2016. The Romanesque Revival building was designed by Charles W. Bellows, a Columbus resident and nephew of George Bellows, builder of the 1887 Franklin County Courthouse in the city.
In years leading up to, and just after Schumacher's death, the mansion was included in tours of historic houses of Columbus. In 1961, the mansion was demolished, and a hotel was proposed for the site. In 1987, a medical office building was finally constructed on the site; the structure was replaced with an apartment building in the 2020s.
It became used for a warehouse and later as an artist and photographer living space. In March 2017, the city forced over a dozen tenants out, after finding numerous serious code violations and deeming it unsafe for habitation.
