The Appleton Transit Center is the center of the Valley Transit system, as most bus routes terminate there. The northwest corner of the property was formerly the boarding place for Greyhound buses, travelling between Green Bay, Wisconsin, and Milwaukee, Wisconsin. This service was withdrawn in 2018. [7]
Nine routes serve the city from Monday through Saturday. Since 1999, students at the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh have been able to ride for free. Via Route 10, OTS serves Neenah, Wisconsin and connects with Valley Transit of Appleton, Wisconsin. The name was changed from the Oshkosh Transit System on September 17, 2012. [2]
The route is augmented by Amtrak Thruway routes connecting Green Bay, Appleton, Oshkosh, and Fond du Lac with Milwaukee and Madison, Janesville, and Rockford with Chicago. On April 24, 2020, the Hiawatha was temporarily replaced by bus service during the COVID-19 pandemic. Partial service resumed in June 2020, and full service in May 2021.
