Wichie Torres (29 March 1952 [1] – 7 February 2020 [2]) was a Puerto Rican oil canvas painter. He was an exponent of the costumbrismo movement. [3] He is also the first person in the Central America and Caribbean region to have ever undergone two independent heart transplant operations and have survived both.
Otero Barreto received his primary and secondary education in Vega Baja. He attended college at the University of Puerto Rico, studying biology for three years and spending another two years in training at the same school until September 1959 when he joined the U.S. Army, which he chose over medical school in Spain. Rivera was actively involved in the creation of a historical museum, which depicts the contributions made to the cultural life of Puerto Rico by black Puerto Ricans.
