I have a ton of concerns for the new Hub at Columbia project and kind of what to get the perspectives from the folks on here about it. First off, I think this is a horrible thing for Main Street. While it is good to fill a huge vacancy as well as add 860 residents, to me these are the absolute last type of residents we need.

That said, if they extended the Piedmont and leave the Silver Star as is.. it would provide more of a regional rail connection from SC to NC but the long distance issues of early morning arrivals/departures from Columbia would remain It would be interesting to see if there is demand for a regional rail run between Charlotte and Columbia ...
There are just so many parallels, imo it just seems like Columbia is better in every comparison. I do wish Columbia leveraged the river more with a riverboat but understand this would be impossible due to the rocks and lower water levels.
