Yomif Kejelcha Atomsa (born 1 August 1997) [5] is an Ethiopian distance runner. He holds the current world record in the short track mile (3:47.01 set in 2019), and the half marathon (57:30 set in 2024, pending ratification).
Katir, a bronze medalist from 2022, was upset he did not even make the 1500 final. With 3 laps to go Katir, followed by Ingebrigtsen, drifted towards the front. This move also brought the attention of Jacob Krop, Yomif Kejelcha and Mohammed Ahmed. The next 62 second lap strung out the back of the pack while there was a crowd near the front.

The men's half-marathon world record, pending ratification, is 57:30, set by Yomif Kejelcha of Ethiopia on 27 October 2024 in the Valencia Half Marathon. Kejelcha broke Ugandan Jacob Kiplimo's previous world record of 57:31, set on 21 November 2021 in the Lisbon Half Marathon, by one second. [4]
