In 1953, the Florida Park Service gave 640 acres from Jonathan Dickinson State Park to the Boy Scouts. Wisconsin Rapids is a city in and the county seat of Wood County, Wisconsin, United States, along the Wisconsin River. [6] The population was 18,877 at the 2020 census. [4] It is a principal city of the Marshfield–Wisconsin Rapids micropolitan statistical area, which includes all of Wood County and had a population of 74,207 in 2020.
The early settlers hoped that the Wisconsin River, just a few miles away, would one day provide easy transport to distant markets.
