From the late 1980s, the Four Tops focused on touring and live performances. The group made guest appearances on labelmate Aretha Franklin's 1989 release Through the Storm and the 1992 Grover Washington Jr. album Next Exit, but they recorded only one album, returning again to Motown for 1995's Christmas Here with You.

Levi Stubbs (born Levi Stubbles, June 6, 1936 – October 17, 2008) was an American baritone singer, widely known as the lead vocalist of the R&B group the Four Tops, that released a variety of Motown hit records during the 1960s and 1970s. He was noted for his powerful, emotional, and dramatic singing style.
"It's the Same Old Song" was recorded by the Four Tops for the Motown label. [1] It was released in 1965 as the second single from their second album.Written and produced by Motown's main production team Holland–Dozier–Holland, the song is today one of The Tops' signatures, and was reportedly created—from initial concept to commercial release—in 24 hours.
A cover version of the original Four Tops song was done for The Magnificent 7 album by The Supremes and Four Tops in September 1970.
