Mahant Swami Maharaj (born Vinu Patel, 13 September 1933; [3] ordained Keshavjivandas Swami) is the present guru and president of the Bochasanwasi Akshar Purushottam Swaminarayan Sanstha (BAPS), a major branch of the Swaminarayan Sampradaya, a Hindu denomination.
Inspired by Pramukh Swami Maharaj (1921–2016) and consecrated by Mahant Swami Maharaj on 14 February 2024, this is the first traditional Hindu mandir in Abu Dhabi. In 1997, Pramukh Swami Maharaj envisioned a mandir in Abu Dhabi. In August 2015, the UAE government announced they would provide the land for the mandir.
Following the death of Pramukh Swami Maharaj on 13 August 2016, Mahant Swami Maharaj became the 6th guru and president of BAPS. [79] In 1961, he was ordained as a swami by Yogiji Maharaj and named Keshavjivandas Swami. Due to his appointment as the head (mahant) of the mandir in Mumbai, he became known as Mahant Swami. [80]
The first marble pillar installation ceremony took place on September 4, 2017, in the presence of Mahant Swami Maharaj, the sixth spiritual leader of BAPS. [22] In the summer of 2020, the mandovar (the main outer wall of the mandir) was completed. The keystones of each of the four domes, which locks a dome in place, were installed on June 14, 2022.

The central shrine of the mandir houses the murti of Swaminarayan, with Gunatitanand Swami to his left, together worshipped as Akshar-Purushottam Maharaj.Other shrines hold the murtis of Ghanshyam Maharaj, Harikrishna Maharaj, Radha-Krishna, Shiva-Parvati, Sita-Ram, Hanumana, Ganesh, and the lineage of BAPS gurus who are Swaminarayan's spiritual successors in BAPS.
