Though Murdoch chooses to save Julia, he is rescued, and Gillies is apprehended. Gillies is boarded on a train headed to Kingston where he is to be hanged for his crimes. While Gillies manages to escape from the train, Murdoch pursues him. After pinning Gillies down, Gillies distracts Murdoch with a kiss and jumps off a bridge, to escape.
