Sutton County is a county located on the Edwards Plateau in the U.S. state of Texas. As of the 2020 census, the population was 3,372. [1] Its county seat is Sonora. [2] The county was created in 1887 and organized in 1890. [3] Sutton County is named for John S. Sutton, an officer in the Confederate Army.
Of the 6,189 households, 28.20% had children under 18 living with them, 60.20% were married couples living together, 9.20% had a female householder with no husband present, and 27.10% were not families. About 24.80% of all households were made up of individuals, and 13.10% had someone living alone who was 65 or older.
