The county fair was moved permanently to Monroe, opening at the modern-day fairgrounds on September 5, 1946, and renaming itself to the Evergreen State Fair in 1949. [ 1 ] [ 2 ] A 4,000-seat sports arena was completed in 1970, coinciding with a longer ten-day run for the fair.
Evergreen Speedway is an automobile racetrack located within the confines of the Evergreen State Fairgrounds in Monroe, Washington. The stadium can accommodate up to 7,500 spectators in the covered grandstand and an additional 7,500 in the uncovered modular grandstands. [ 1 ]
The city is home to the annual Evergreen State Fair, a county fair which takes place in late August and early September at a fairground located northwest of downtown Monroe. It is the second largest fair in Washington state, behind the Puyallup Fair, and attracts approximately 350,000 over its twelve-day run.
