The Arvada, Colorado, post office opened on February 16, 1871, [13] with Benjamin Wadsworth as the first postmaster. Colorado was granted statehood on August 1, 1876, and the Town of Arvada was incorporated on August 14, 1904. [5] A vibrant agricultural community, Arvada was once known as the "Celery Capital of the World." [14]
