The AMD Optimizing C/C++ Compiler (AOCC) is an optimizing C/C++ and Fortran compiler suite from AMD targeting 32-bit and 64-bit Linux platforms. [1] [2] It is a proprietary fork of LLVM + Clang with various additional patches to improve performance for AMD's Zen microarchitecture in Epyc, and Ryzen microprocessors.
LLVM improved performance on low-end machines using Intel GMA chipsets. A similar system was developed under the Gallium3D LLVMpipe, and incorporated into the GNOME shell to allow it to run without a proper 3D hardware driver loaded. [39] In 2011, programs compiled by GCC outperformed those from LLVM by 10%, on average.
The LLVM project originally intended to use GCC's front end. The GCC source code, however, is large and somewhat cumbersome; as one long-time GCC developer put it referring to LLVM, "Trying to make the hippo dance is not really a lot of fun". [17] Besides, Apple software uses Objective-C, which is a low priority for GCC developers.
However, in LTO as implemented by the GNU Compiler Collection (GCC) and LLVM, the compiler is able to dump its intermediate representation (IR), i.e. GIMPLE bytecode or LLVM bitcode, respectively, so that all the different compilation units that will go to make up a single executable can be optimized as a single module when the link finally ...
Has a plotting pane. Juno team merged with VS Code extension team (see below); Juno now in maintenance mode. Emacs / spacemacs: portions in GPL v2, LGPL, BSD and public domain: Yes Yes Yes FreeBSD: Yes Yes ESS extension support for emacs. vi support also available, e.g. in spacemacs (useful for pair programming). Visual Studio Code (using the ...
Until version 12.0.0, the instruction scheduling in LLVM/Clang could only accept a -march (called target-cpu in LLVM parlance) switch for both instruction set and scheduling. Version 12 adds support for -mtune (tune-cpu) for x86 only. [3] Sources of information on latency and port usage include: GCC and LLVM;
Whether particular optimizations can and should be applied may depend on the characteristics of the target machine. Some compilers such as GCC and Clang parameterize machine-dependent factors so that they can be used to optimize for different machines. [7] Target CPU architecture. Number of registers: Registers can be used to optimize for ...
To specify gold through a compiler option, one can use the gcc option -fuse-ld=gold. Fedora has moved gold from binutils into its own package due to concerns it is suffering from bitrot after Google's interest has moved to LLVM. [6] In particular, gold does not read LDFLAGS variable, so cannot see libraries in folders like /usr/local/lib.
