This is very frustrating. Whenever I try to download anything from any site, even if I am 100% certain that it is secure, it fails to download and I get the message "Failed - Virus scan failed". I even tried to download the uninstall from Avast and couldn't download it. Help!!!
Re: Avast Free Smart Scan vs Full Virus Scan. There really is no direct comparison. Paid versions of avast may well run the Smart Scam, but many of the modules in the smart scan are for paid version of the type of scan, e.g. CleanUP, Ransomware, if you hadn't paid for these modules, a free version would scan, but couldn't actually do anything ...
Re: Full Virus Scan stuck at 0% after a while of scanning. it seems to be stucked on the anti-rootkit check, please try to disable the anti-rootkit in scan settings and try again. There is no disable, just 'delete'. I remember my McAfee Internet Security having this problem with rootkit.
For proactive purposes, I run a manual Full Virus Scan periodically. 1a. Does the FVS include the components as the Smart Scan (so only a full virus scan is necessary) or does the SS contain components not included in the FVS (so both manual scans should be done)? b. If both scans detect different components, should a FVS or a SS be run first ...
