On September 1996, DWRR relaunched itself as a mainstream pop music station branded WRR 101.9. It also became the first FM radio station to be fully broadcast in Filipino language, in order to compete with rival English-language FM stations such as GMA Network's Campus Radio 97.1 WLS, Magic 89.9 and 99.5 RT.
