In 1940, the Brothers of Holy Cross joined the Sisters on campus and St. Anthony became a boys' school and a girls' school with facilities dedicated to each on the same campus. In 1972 the two schools merged and St. Anthony became coeducational once again. Today, St. Anthony High School is an Archdiocesan high school and remains a co-ed school. [3]
St. Anthony's High School opened on Sept. 12, 1984 at the former site of Holy Family High School. [18] Formerly an all-boys high school in Smithtown, St. Anthony's student body was moved to the new location in South Huntington when the Diocese of Rockville Centre decided to close Holy Family High School. St. Anthony High School was a four-year co-educational Catholic high school in Jersey City, New Jersey, that was known for its high-powered basketball program coached by Bob Hurley Sr. The school closed in 2017.
