Robert Wilson first created performance works specific to sites on Eastern Long Island in the late 1960s. In 1962, Wilson founded the Byrd Hoffman School of Byrds, a performance company which collaborated on all of his early works, including Deafman Glance, The Life and Times of Sigmund Freud, The King of Spain, The Life and Times of Joseph Stalin, [18] and KA MOUNTAIN and GUARDenia Terrace.
Wilson attended the University of Tennessee, and played for coach Phillip Fulmer's Tennessee Volunteers football team from 1995 to 1998. Wilson was signed to the Soul City imprint and Rivers produced the sessions that yielded the 1968 U.S. R&B hit single "The Snake" (U.S. Pop number 27), which became popular on the Northern soul circuit in the United Kingdom.
