Kawaki (Japanese: カワキ) is a fictional character in Ukyō Kodachi and Mikio Ikemoto's manga Boruto: Naruto Next Generations.Initially appearing in the flashforward in the series debut, Kawaki is a young man and later genetically an Ōtsutsuki who apparently would become the nemesis of the series' lead character, Boruto Uzumaki.
Naruto then saves Boruto from being crushed by a cube and pleads with Kawaki to spare Boruto. Boruto chimes in that the meds were a temporary solution, but they now need a permanent solution to eliminate Momoshiki. Kawaki reminds Boruto of his promise to stop him permanently, and Boruto gives his permission to him.
In the ensuing fight, Kawaki slashes out Boruto's right eye, and Sasuke arrives and tries to stop Kawaki, but the latter manages to escape with help of Momoshiki. Kawaki meets with Eida, who uses her Senrigan dojutsu known as the Omnipotence to rewrite everyone's memory: Kawaki and Boruto permanently swapped places.
A large Funato fortress approaches Team Kagura's ship. Kagura sends Boruto, Kawaki, and Buntan to check the fortress out up close. Meanwhile, Team Denki goes to the harbor to commandeer a large ship while Sarada and Mitsuki rescue the captive miners and researchers. Boruto, Kawaki, and Buntan make it onto the mobile fortress.
Arriving home, Kawaki gives the vase to Himawari, while Boruto slips glue into Kawaki's hand, to simply fix the broken vase. On the outskirts of the village, Delta and Koji arrive. The latter warns the former of the Yamanaka Clan's security measures, stating that previously unregistered chakra would be immediately noticed and tells her to stay ...
As Boruto and his friends eagerly collect the cards, they realize they are still missing their former teacher, Shino Aburame, and Metal's father, Rock Lee, they also learn that there's only one space left in the upcoming series, a fierce battle begins between Boruto, who thinks it should be Shino, and Metal, who stands behind his father.
Ku appears once again to provoke and attack Boruto, Sarada and Mitsuki. Meanwhile, Ohnoki prepares for a fight to the death in order to stop Ku from doing any more harm, joining Boruto eventually. Naruto also leads a group of ninja to the Hidden Stone to protect their comrades. Before Ku finishes Mitsuki, Ohnoki confronts him.
Sarada pleads with Shikamaru, now acting as the Eighth Hokage in an unofficial capacity, to lift the execution order on Boruto. Sarada's discussions with Sumire, Eida, and Daemon about the technique yield no solution. Elsewhere, Kawaki and Mitsuki discuss Boruto's whereabouts, and Mitsuki begins to question his devotion to Kawaki.
