Cape St. George Island (also known as Little St. George Island) is an uninhabited barrier island situated on Florida's North Gulf Coast, south-southeast of St. Vincent Island, west of St. George Island and 8–10 miles south-southwest of the town of Apalachicola in Franklin County, Florida.
The Apalachicola Bay system also includes St. George Sound, St. Vincent Sound and East Bay, covering an area of about 208 square miles (540 km 2). [1] Four islands, St. Vincent Island to the west, Cape St. George Island and St. George Island to the south, and Dog Island to the east, separate the system from the Gulf of Mexico. [2]

In 2005, it was ranked as having the 8th best beach in the country, [2] [3] and in 2013 Forbes ranked it at 7th. [4] The park was named in honor of Bill Baggs, editor of The Miami News from 1957 until his death in 1969.
