The Chrysler World Headquarters and Technology Center (CTC) is the North American headquarters and main research and development facility for the automobile manufacturer Stellantis. The 504-acre (204 ha) complex is located next to Interstate 75 in Auburn Hills, Michigan , a northern suburb of Detroit .
The Chrysler company was founded by Walter Chrysler on June 6, 1925, [12] [13] when the Maxwell Motor Company (est. 1904) was re-organized into the Chrysler Corporation. [14] [15] The company was headquartered in the Detroit enclave of Highland Park, [16] [17] [18] where it remained until completing the move to its present Auburn Hills location in 1996.
The Walter P. Chrysler Museum was a car museum in Auburn Hills, Michigan, featuring historically significant vehicles designed and manufactured by Chrysler, Dodge, Plymouth, Jeep, AMC, Nash, Hudson, and Rambler. It was in operation from October 1999 through December 2012, with a brief re-opening in 2016 before closing permanently in December 2016.
The Jeep half of the division, however, remained the better-known and more popular brand. Chrysler latched on to the Jeep heritage and advertisements featured Lee Iacocca assured that after Chrysler took over AMC, that "we won't fool around with an American institution. Jeep will stay Jeep. That's a promise."
