Text Cites: Among studies, we review M. A. Light and Light (2008) and I. Light (2006). Note that the in-text citation for the coauthored book uses the first author's initials and surname, but only the second author's surname. This matches your own example.
Hi! I'm glad to see the APA Style team has a FB site that we can contact! I have [a] question about how to properly write the in-text citation for a few works by the same first author but different co-authors and in different years, following the APA 7th ed. style. E.g., let's say the sources are: A, C, D, & E (2020) A, B, C, & E (2021)
The first version of my answer was wrong. Here is the relevant section from the APA Publication Manual: 6.14 Authors With the Same Surname. When a work has three, four, or five authors, cite all authors the first time, the reference occurs; in subsequent citations, include only the surname of the first author followed by et al. (not italicized and with a period after al ) and the year if it is the ...
Then, for each subsequent citation use the first author's last name followed by "et al.". (Foo et al., 1994) For six or more authors, you always use the first author's last name, followed by "et al.", either within the phrase or in parenthesis. Foo et al. (1994) note that the world did not end. The world did not end (Foo et al., 1994).
citation of a forthcoming article by the authors; My overall question is how to cite this/these quote(s). More specifically, do I . simply cite the current article and truncate/ignore the authors' in-text citations, leave the authors' in-text citation as-is in the quote, but only cite the current paper in the bibliography,
