North Ballston Spa is a census-designated place (CDP) within the town of Milton in Saratoga County, New York, United States. As of the 2020 census , it had a population of 1,376. The CDP is southwest of the center of Saratoga County, in the southeastern corner of the town of Milton.
At first, visitors lived in tents, while visiting ministers could rent space in the second story of the meeting's passenger station. By 1868 more permanent structures including cottages, a two-story trustees office and bookstore, and a market appeared. The village was owned and governed by the Round Lake Association.
Ballston Spa's economy switched to industry, with a number of small textile mills opening up in the area. [2] In 1859, with the Civil War looming, Brookside became a military academy. In 1864, with peace in the offing, it reverted to residential use, first as a single-family residence and later as an apartment house.
