Claiborne Farm is a thoroughbred horse breeding operation near Paris, Kentucky. It was established in 1910 by Arthur B. Hancock , owner of Ellerslie Stud in Albemarle County , Virginia , and has been operated by members of his family ever since.

Arthur Boyd Hancock (June 26, 1875 - April 1, 1957) was a breeder of thoroughbred racehorses who established Claiborne Farm in Paris, Kentucky, United States.. Born at Ellerslie Estate in Albemarle County, Virginia, near Charlottesville, Arthur Hancock was a brother to scholar and educator Harris Hancock (1867–1944).
After attending South College and the University of Kentucky, where he majored in Agricultural science, he graduated in 1971. The following year, Seth returned to Claiborne Farm where initially he was supposed to manage the farm together with his older brother Arthur. [2] However, on September of that year, "Bull" Hancock died of cancer. [3]
