The Indian Institute of Technology Madras (IIT Madras or IIT-M) is a public technical university located in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India. It is one of the eight public Institutes of Eminence of India. As an Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), IIT Madras is also recognised as an Institute of National Importance .
IIITDM Kancheepuram, which was established in 2007, was initially operating from its temporary campus within its mentor institute, Indian Institute of Technology Madras. The institute has moved to its permanent campus at Kelambakkam-Vandalur road near Chennai in 2011.

In June 2023, education officials of India and Tanzania announced that the first foreign IIT campus would be established on the Tanzanian autonomous territory of Zanzibar, as a satellite campus of IIT Madras. The campus is scheduled to begin offering classes in October 2023. [54]

Chemplast Cricket Ground or Indian Institute of Technology Chemplast Ground is a cricket ground in the IIT Madras campus. The ground is an important cricket venue [1] and is described by cricketer Sachin Tendulkar as the most scenic in the country [citation needed]. It is set amongst greenery. The ground has hosted eight Women's cricket ODI. [2]
