In sports, Darwin College Boat Club is a popular student society at Darwin College, as well as Darwin College Football Club who play in the long established Cambridge University Association Football League (CUAFL), representing the only graduate college within CUAFL. The club plays throughout the year in and out of term.
The Cup is awarded to the Club gaining the most points over the course of the May Bumps. Points are awarded as follows: One point for every place gained by each of a Club’s boats. One point for each night that a Club retains the Men’s or Women’s Headship in Division One. One point deducted for every place lost by each of a Club’s boats.
Historically, only men's rowing existed at Cambridge University, and all of the races and river rules were controlled by the Cambridge University Boat Club (CUBC). Newnham College Boat Club was the only rowing club for women from its founding in 1893 until Cambridge University Women's Boat Club (CUWBC) was founded in 1941.

The races are open to all college boat clubs from the University of Cambridge, the University Medical and Veterinary Schools and Anglia Ruskin Boat Club. The Lent Bumps take place over five days (Tuesday to Saturday) at the end of February / start of March and are run as bumps races .

Anglia Ruskin Boat Club (ARBC) is the rowing club for members of Anglia Ruskin University. [ 1 ] [ 2 ] [ 3 ] It was known as CCAT Boat Club (usually said as sea cat ) until 2008. The name CCAT derives from a former name for the university, the Cambridgeshire College of Arts and Technology, which is abbreviated to CCAT.
