Jigme Singye Wangchuck (Dzongkha: འཇིགས་མེད་སེང་གེ་དབང་ཕྱུག་, Wylie: jigs med seng ge dbang phyug; [1] born 11 November 1955) is a member of the House of Wangchuck who was the king of Bhutan (Druk Gyalpo) from 1972 until his abdication in 2006.

In 2017, in honor of his first birthday, a new damselfly species was named after the crown prince, Megalestes gyalsey. [4] He is expected to become the sixth Druk Gyalpo (King of Bhutan). He has a younger brother, Prince Dasho Jigme Ugyen Wangchuck, and a younger sister, Princess Ashi Sonam Yangden Wangchuck.
