1. Two articulated Hunslet Engine 0-4-4-0 DM diesel locomotives were supplied to the Royal Arsenal, Woolwich: Albert in 1934 (scrapped in 1961) and Carnegie in 1954. Carnegie was later sold, subsequently rescued and moved to the Bicton Woodland Railway in 1966. [3]
The Penrhyn Main Line class is a class of three narrow gauge steam locomotives built for the Penrhyn Quarry Railway (PQR). These locomotives were built by the Hunslet Engine Company between 1882 and 1893 and supplied specifically to work the railway that connected the Penrhyn Quarry near Bethesda in north Wales to Port Penrhyn on the Menai Strait.
The Maid Marian Locomotive Fund was established in 1965 by a group of railway enthusiasts seeking to preserve a working locomotive from the Dinorwic Slate Quarry. [5] The Quarry Manager recommended Maid Marian as the best locomotive then available. [6] MMLF purchased the loco in 1965, taking possession in 1967. [7]
The Dinorwic Alice Class is a class of eleven narrow-gauge 0-4-0 ST steam locomotives built specifically for the Dinorwic quarry.These locomotives were built by the Hunslet Engine Company between 1886 and 1904, and were designed and supplied specifically to work the many galleries of the quarry at Llanberis, North Wales.

In 1870, Hunslet constructed its first narrow gauge engine Dinorwic, a diminutive 1 ft 10 + 3 ⁄ 4 in (578 mm) gauge 0-4-0 ST for the Dinorwic Slate Quarry at Llanberis. This engine, later renamed Charlie , was the first of 20 similar engines built for this quarry and did much to establish Hunslet as a major builder of quarry engines.
