Versailles is historical drama television series, set during the construction of the Palace of Versailles during the reign of Louis XIV. A co production between France, Canada, the United Kingdom and United States, the series premiered on 16 November 2015 on Canal+ in France and on Super Channel in Canada in May 2016 on BBC Two in Britain, and on 1 October 2016 on Ovation in the United States.
Alexander Vlahos (born 30 July 1988) is a Welsh actor, writer, and director best known for playing Philippe, Duke of Orléans, in the Canal+ television series Versailles.In 2012, Vlahos took the role of the adult Mordred, in the final series of the BBC One drama Merlin.
Now listed as a historic monument, along with the Château de Versailles and its outbuildings, it is a testament to the dedication and care put into preserving our history. It is now open to the public as part of the Musée National des Châteaux de Versailles et de Trianon within the Domaine de Marie-Antoinette.

The second chapel was constructed as part of Louis XIV's second building campaign (1669–1672), when Louis Le Vau constructed the Château Neuf.When the new part of the château was completed, the chapel was situated in the Grand appartement de la reine and formed the symmetrical pendant with the Salon de Diane in the Grand appartement du roi.

The menagerie was built between 1662 and 1664, [2] at the southern end of the future Grand Canal, along the road between Versailles and Saint-Cyr, [2] but was not fully completed until 1668. In appearance, Le Roy's Chateau de Versailles is not dissimilar from Francois Mansard's designs for the Château de Maisons. A near contemporary of the Versailles chateau, the construction of Maisons is considered a defining moment in French architecture's movement towards the Baroque style. Little more is known of Le Roy's personal life.
