Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Turtles in Time, released as Teenage Mutant Hero Turtles: Turtles in Time in Europe, is a 1991 beat 'em up game developed and published by Konami for arcades. A sequel to the original Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles arcade game, it is a side-scrolling game based mainly on the 1987 TMNT animated series .
TeamXbox's Dale Nardozzi stated that while the turtles can now attack in more directions players will still "more than likely get a severe, gang-up-style beatdown." [21] IGN's Daemon Hatfield criticized the game's difficulty, but conceded that Turtles in Time "was made for arcades and it shows in the cheap bosses and unavoidable traps." [20]
This is the first TMNT game released for the Sega Genesis. It features much of the same character animations as Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Turtles in Time, and some levels were reused from that game with a few minor cosmetic changes. However, there is a completely new plot, some new levels, and one new boss.
The game features 16 story levels and 16 unlockable challenge levels. The game also features four playable characters, each with their unique fighting style and abilities. The game encourages cooperative gameplay , as the player will have to use each turtle's special abilities to navigate through their environment.
