Boo Tiang Huat was born in Singapore during the British colonial period in 1947. Boo first joined the Singapore Police Force in 1973, and he gradually rose through the ranks, attaining the post of deputy OC of the Whitley NPP, a position he held from November 1989 until 1992, when he retired at age 45.
