Clindamycin is a lincosamide antibiotic medication used for the treatment of a number of bacterial infections, including osteomyelitis (bone) or joint infections, pelvic inflammatory disease, strep throat, pneumonia, acute otitis media (middle ear infections), and endocarditis. [5]
Clindamycin alone has been shown to be efficacious in the treatment of acne, [24] toxic shock syndrome [25] and malaria, [26] and to decrease the risk of premature births in women with bacterial vaginosis. [27] Lincosamide antibiotics may also be useful in the treatment of methicillin-resistant S. aureus. [28]
Clindamycin should be given in conjunction with quinine as a 300 mg dose (in adults) four times a day for five days. The only side effects recorded in patients taking clindamycin are nausea, vomiting and abdominal pains and cramps. However these can be alleviated by consuming large quantities of water and food when taking the drug.
Effective for gram-positive, gram-negative, anaerobic, and against multi-antibiotic resistant bacteria (such as Staphylococcus aureus [MRSA] and Acinetobacter baumannii), but not effective for Pseudomonas spp. and Proteus spp. Teeth discoloration and same side effects as tetracycline. Not to be given to children and pregnant or lactating women.
Research also shows that adult acne is more common in women. In a 2018 survey of 1,013 people, the following percentages of women reported having acne: Almost 5 percent of women ages 20 through 29
Lincomycin is a lincosamide antibiotic that comes from the actinomycete Streptomyces lincolnensis. [3] A related compound, clindamycin, is derived from lincomycin by using thionyl chloride to replace the 7-hydroxy group with a chlorine atom with inversion of chirality. [4] It was released for medical use in September 1964. [5]

Most adults from endemic areas have a degree of long-term infection, which tends to recur, and also possess partial immunity (resistance); the resistance reduces with time, and such adults may become susceptible to severe malaria if they have spent a significant amount of time in non-endemic areas. They are strongly recommended to take full ...
