Tartine is a small, US-based bakery chain. As of February 2022, it operates three locations in the San Francisco Bay Area , five in Los Angeles, and six in Seoul Capital Area, South Korea . [ 1 ] [ 2 ] Its original bakery opened in 2002 in San Francisco's Mission District , at 600 Guerrero Street.

Elisabeth “Liz” Prueitt is a pastry chef and along with her husband Chad Robertson, the owner of the San Francisco bakery chain Tartine. [ 1 ] She has been described as both a “brilliant pastry chef” [ 1 ] and a “pastry prodigy.” [ 2 ]
In 2013, the BBC described Mission-based bakery Tartine as making "some of the city’s best sourdough". [32] All told, in the early 2000s there were at least 65 "microbakeries" in the Bay Area, [2] [15] including the original bakers (Boudin, Colombo, and Toscana), collectively making approximately 2.4 million loaves of bread per week. [7]
The restaurant's prices have gone up over the past 70 years. However, it remains one of the most affordable places to eat in town. Most menu items cost less than $10.
