Echoes: The Best of Pink Floyd is the fourth compilation album by the English rock band Pink Floyd, released on 5 November 2001 by EMI internationally and a day later by Capitol Records in the United States. It debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard 200 album chart on 24 November 2001, with sales of 214,650 copies. [1]
In 2008, Uncut magazine ranked "Echoes" number 30 in a list of Pink Floyd's 30 best songs, [48] while in 2011, readers of Rolling Stone named it as the fifth-best song by Pink Floyd. [49] The members of Pink Floyd have mixed views on the track. Wright said that the piece was "a highlight" and "one of the finest tracks the Floyd have ever done".

The proper mono mixes of these two tracks would later appear on Echoes: The Best of Pink Floyd in 2001, with the latter reappearing on The Best of Pink Floyd: A Foot in the Door in 2011. The original mono mixes of all six of these songs were first compiled on The Early Singles, a bonus disc in the 1992 Shine On box set.
"Seamus" is the fifth song on Pink Floyd's 1971 album Meddle. The group performs it in the style of country blues , with vocals, an acoustic slide guitar in an open D tuning , and piano. [ 1 ] [ 2 ] The song is named after the Border Collie [ 3 ] (belonging to Humble Pie leader Steve Marriott ) who howls throughout the 2:15 piece. [ 4 ]
There are no song variations between the original Best of edition and the Masters of Rock LPs. Both The Best of edition and Masters of Rock are made from the same master tape and matrix (5C 054–04299) and were notable for containing the first stereo release of "Apples and Oranges" and "Paintbox", this latter also appearing a year later on Relics.
