The S.E. Wimberly Library is located on FAU's main campus and main library in Boca Raton. In 1963, the facility was constructed atop the abandoned structures of the Boca Raton Army Air Field, a United States Army Air Forces airfield used during World War II. The library is named in honor of Stanley E. Wimberly, who passed on November 1, 1974.
The library system, which serves Florida's twelve public universities, is one of the largest in the world, with more than 18 million items. [2] Though each campus library is separate, they share a reciprocal borrowing agreement known as the Florida Distance Learning Initiative, signed on February 9, 1999.

Schmidt College of Medicine Graduate Medical Education (GME) Consortium was formed with five Palm Beach County hospitals: Bethesda Hospital East; Boca Raton Regional Hospital; and Tenet HealthCare system’s Delray Medical Center, St. Mary’s Medical Center, and West Boca Medical Center.

The 2021 Florida Atlantic Owls football team represented Florida Atlantic University in the 2021 NCAA Division I FBS football season. The Owls played their home games at FAU Stadium in Boca Raton, Florida, and competed in the East Division of Conference USA (CUSA). They were led by head coach Willie Taggart, in his second year.

Florida Atlantic University basketball began play in the 1988–89 season. The Owls competed as an NCAA Division II independent until the 1993–94 season, when they moved up to Division I and the Atlantic Sun Conference, now known as the ASUN Conference.
