Borden Flats Light is a historic lighthouse on the Taunton River in Fall River, Massachusetts, US. [ 1 ] [ 4 ] [ 5 ] It is a tower-on-caisson type known as a sparkplug lighthouse . The light was built in 1881, and added to the National Register of Historic Places as Borden Flats Light Station on June 15, 1987, reference number 87001528.

The Borden family owned the house in the late 19th century — the well-to-do businessman Andrew Borden, his second wife, Abby, Andrew’s daughters Emma and Lizzie, and live-in maid Bridget Sullivan.
The first 25-foot (7.6 m) rubblestone lighthouse and dwelling were built on the bluffs of West Chop in 1817. [3] Following constant erosion, the lighthouse was moved back in 1830, and again in 1846. [4] The first lightkeeper was pilot James Shaw West who tended the light for thirty years, from 1818 to 1848. His pay was $350 a year.
